At this years Proms Concert we are very pleased to present a concert full of exciting Australian Music.

Conductor: Thaddeus Huang

Slava Grigoryan will perform ‘Antarctica’ by Nigel Westlake.
‘Antarctica’ was composed in 1991 for orchestra and solo guitar by Nigel Westlake to accompany the IMAX film ‘Antarctica’.

Slava is a classical guitar virtuoso and is regarded as a ‘wizard’ of the guitar. His family emigrated to Australia in 1981 and he was raised in Melbourne. He began to study guitar with his father at the age of seven and by the age of twelve he was performing professionally and made his solo debut in Sydney at the age of fourteen.

The choral and orchestra will also perform ‘The Arafura’ by Dan Walker, an earthy and powerful work using text by the Australian poet Bernard O’Reilly.

Come and join us for these great works and many many more in an afternoon of wonderful music at the Frankston Arts Centre, 27 to 37 Davey St, Frankston.
