We are celebrating Beethovens 250th Birthday!

The Frankston Symphony Orchestra and the Mornington Peninsula Chorale will perform the Fauré Requiem and the finale from Beethovens 9th Symphony.

Chorale co-directors: Tom Pugh, Katrina Waters

Gabriel Fauré Requiem is in D minor, Op. 48. The choral orchestral is of the shortened Catholic Mass for the Dead in Latin. Its focus is on eternal rest and consolation. He composed the work in the late 1880s and revised in the 1890s, finishing it in 1900. The work is in seven movements, scored for soprano and baritone soloists, mixed choir, orchestra and organ.

Beethoven 9 – IV Movement – This choral finale is Beethoven’s musical representation of universal brotherhood based on the ‘Ode to Joy’ theme and is in theme and variations form.

Two concerts are scheduled, the first on the 24th May and the second on the 31st May. You will need to book in advance for these concerts as audience numbers are strictly limited.

Come and join us for a fantastic afternoon of music at the Peninsula Community Theatre, 91 Wilsons Rd, Mornington.
